Customizing Background in MS Word 2007 Documents

You can customize background of your text document while working with MS Word 2007. It helps you to make the document attractive and background effects allow communication through the documents. You can use it for different purposes.

To add different backgrounds in your MS Word document, see the following tips.

Solid Color Background:

  1. Open the document where you want to add effects.
  2. Click on the Page Layout menu.
  3. Click on the Page Color button. Drop down menu will open a Theme Color pallet where you can select solid colors to fill in your document background. If you don’t find your required color in the pallet, follow the More Color option where you can customize the color you need.
  4. Single click on the color will apply the background color on your document.

Effects in Background:

  1. Open the document where you want to add effects.
  2. Click on the Page Layout menu.
  3. Click on the option Fill Effects at the bottom of drop down menu.
  4. Fill Effects window appears with 4 tabs named Gradient, Texture, Pattern and Picture. You can choose any of the pre-designed effects available by default or upload a self-created effect for your document. To apply the self-created effects or a picture, click on the Picture tab.
  5. Click on the Select Picture button. It will ask you the location of your desired picture.
  6. Select the desired picture and click Insert button.
  7. It shows you the preview of your selected picture in a small window. Click Ok to apply the picture to the document background.

To Remove the Background:

  1. When you are in the document, click on the Page Layout and Page Color button.
  2. Click on the No Color option. It will remove all the background color or effects of your document and make the background blank again.
