Hidden Features of Yahoo Messenger

Yahoo! Messenger is an advertisement-supported instant messaging client and connected protocol provided by Yahoo! This messenger can be downloaded free of charge and used with a generic “Yahoo! ID” which also allows access to other services of Yahoo! including Yahoo! Mail. Yahoo! also offers PC-PC, PC-Phone and Phone-PC services; file transfers, webcam hosting, text messaging services, IM conferencing and chat rooms in various categories. Yahoo! Messenger is one of the most widely used instant messaging applications to chat with friends. This messenger also has secret or hidden features as well.

Matrix Mode

Matrix Mode is a concealed feature of Yahoo! Messenger for Vista. It will turn your tabbed conversation window into one single window with a matrix of boxes. Each box is showing an IM conversation. If you want to activate Matrix Mode start few IM conversations and condense them into one window as tabs. You can do this by pressing “CTR + ,” and then press “Ctrl + Alt + Shift + b” to activate Matrix Mode.

Hidden Emoticons

Yahoo! Messenger has emoticons that are concealed in default emotion menu. You can activate these emoticons by typing code directly into chat conversation. Some of these emoticons include puppy-dog eyes, whistling, shame on you, chatterbox, star, bee and I don’t know”.

Zync Plug-In

A hidden feature of Yahoo! Messenger 8 is video sharing plug-in called Zync. This plug-in enables chat users to share videos while having a conversation. Both users must install “Zync Plug-In” and one of them must type “watch ” into the IM text box and send it. You can share videos from YouTube, Yahoo! and Google.
